welcome to facadia
Early in the morning, the city starts to stir. Merchants set up colorful stalls, stacking tabletops with fresh produce and not-so-fresh antiques. Tavern keepers flip wooden signs to "Open," knowing full well they will get business even at these blasphemously premature hours to be drinking. Speaking of drinking, partakers in the nightly festivities stumble into bed as the early birds stretch their legs. Eager eyes scour job boards for new quests, keen ears eavesdrop for secrets, and nimble hands pick their unsuspecting pockets. Just outside the city perimeter, an enchanted forest swirls with arcane mysteries, and on the horizon, a dark legion makes preparations for war. Existence teeters constantly between life and death, and chaos hides in every moment - welcome, fellow adventurers, to Facadia.
Note: the pieces in this set were composed for various Dungeons & Dragons campaigns.
the bubblebrook inn
It's another busy night at the Bubblebrook. Regulars crowd the bar, peppering the strong-but-silent barkeep with orders, as newcomers search pointlessly for a menu. Blazing torches mounted on the walls illuminate a group of gamblers in the corner, multiple rounds of cards (and drinks) in and grumbling at each other around a circular table. On stage, the Cantering Cantabiles perform from a thick book titled "Ye Olde Bard Classics." Olga, the half-orc innkeeper with a maze of scars across their body, flashes a wide grin at a pair of traveling diplomats, secretly bumping up the price for a room. Though it may not look it, the Bubblebrook is a well-oiled machine... that is, until a tavern brawl breaks out.
the court of conspiracies
You've made it far in this accursed tower. Each floor has muddied your senses, filling your head with phantom senses and false truths. Spiral staircases lead to labyrinths of heavy oak bookshelves lined with gilded tomes, ghostly chandeliers viciously mocking your every detail, clouds of dissonant whispers gathering around every corner only to disappear when you finally gather the courage to confront them. Finally, you've made it the top; in front of you stands a demure man in ornate frilled dress and Victorian makeup, twirling his manicured mustache. He cocks his head at your arrival, and bloodlust gleams behind his eyes. "Ah, I see you have at long last arrived. I saved the best secret for you..." It's final boss time.
altar to annul
The city celebrates the advent of the summer solstice with a flamboyant festival, complete with spicy foods, twinkling sparklers, and a relay race through the city. Meanwhile, in a part of the woods perpetually cloaked in darkness, hooded figures gather in a circle at the foot of an ancient ruin. They worship a god long forgotten by the modern age, the deity who created the very summer these pitiful urbanites take for granted. With a low hum, the figures sway and sing; they sing of mourning, of neglect, of rage, rage that crescendoes from a flickering flame to a ball of undeniable, fiery judgment. They chant His name, calling Him forth to scorch those who shut their eyes, to wrap them in light they cannot wring out...
yearning
Against all odds, you have done it. You have overcome insurmountable obstacles, uncovered treasured secrets, saved the world, and made lifelong friends. The steps you took to get here will be studied for years to come by many who aim to be like you, and by many more who aim to take you down. Regardless, everyone now knows your name. Darkness still lurks around every corner, and all eyes rest on you. Will you continue to take the call?
"i'm not drunk"
A brawny warrior dances in a tavern, shouting against all claims of inebriation. Laughing and swinging around, the warrior pauses for a moment as the world around them slows; they think they're going to be sick, but register it as a false alarm and quickly resume their boisterousness. The scene feels off-kilter, but much pleasure is to be found too in drunken unaffected moments of joy, at least in the short term... be ready for a rough morning after.
beached whale
Stranded on the shoreline, drawing labored breaths, a whale watches the sunrise in its final moments. The waves lap against its body, teasing a return to the sea, but the whale has long given up on such a possibility. Its thick blubber exerts a crushing weight on its organs, and it fights for each inhale. From a distance, its brethren call out for help, but they also know it is too late. The sun is coming out, and even as it evaporates the last droplets of protective moisture on the whale's skin, the whale cannot help but admire the beauty in the sky’s orange glow. As the sun climbs into the sky, it carries the great creature with it; above the shore, above the ocean, the haunting call of its family welcoming it home.
mossy gears
This piece was written for a 2D platformer game, designed to be looped as the player explores the level. Each sound element interweaves, whirring and clicking as the bass and kick propel the rhythmic machinery forward. The piano and pads float above, balancing the frenetics with a sense of lightness and tranquility. The music evokes curiosity rather than frustration in the player, encouraging them to poke around and be precise with their actions.
horizons
Designed for a short film montage, this piece captures the beauty of various places the main character travels through and documents on their camera. The beginning shows urban settings: families playing in a park, two friends sharing food on the steps of a house, a group of elderly people going for a meditative walk. The narrative shifts as the character takes their first steps into the wilderness, unveiling lush valleys filled with long grass, fields teeming with wildflowers, and bubbling brooks. The bridge showcases nocturnal scenes, including fireflies in a forest, dripping caves, and the stars. Returning to the main motif, the character slowly puts down their camera, learning to enjoy the world around them with unfiltered eyes, savoring each inhale along the way.
domain expansion: what the frick
The room begins to sweat. The walls sag and soften, the ceiling drips down in heavy globules, the chairs and tables turn to goo and melt into the floor, and everything takes on a dark oily sheen. From the now liquid-like space, abominations of genetics emerge. Each has a unique amalgamation of limbs and exposed organs, but all share the same bulging eyes and a gaping mouth overflowing with black sludge. Though the situation is strange and new, you feel a strange sense of calm envelop you. You've been through so much, and this is not the end of your journey. Reaching to your side, you clutch the handle of your trusty blade and glance at your friends; you share a look, and dash into battle.

the delivery
A film featuring dylan's original score! from the director:
"The film follows the main character Boone on the day of his mother’s funeral, and explores his grappling with the pressures of capitalism. Boone becomes very impoverished and needs to find his footing back financially. Out of nowhere, one of his good friends Casper offers him an opportunity to deliver a package and make a large sum of money; he accepts the deal and temporarily represses his desires to mourn his mother's passing. As Boone delivers the package, he discovers the recipient, Hugo, is the one who murdered his mother, and kills him in a moment of overwhelming emotion. While Boone dreads the guilt of his crime, it is revealed that Casper framed Hugo, receiving a promotion for his elimination."
